Built c. 1806 the property sits on 20 acres and was once an active dairy farm in its day until the 1950’s, when it became one of the first Bed & Breakfast Inns in the Mad River Valley to accommodate the skiers of the newly opened Mad River Glen Ski Area. In the 1990’s a massive restoration and renovation took place to transform the once dairy farm into the now Featherbed Inn and cottages.
As you drive up the driveway you notice with surprise the hidden expansive grounds with rolling hills and wooded hiking paths, perennial gardens dot the landscape along with an 1840’s usable barn that houses four horses, one donkey, a bunny, other Featherbed animals include two Corgi mixes, and two cats. Linda and Tom will be happy to give a tour anytime.
The Mad River Valley offers four seasons of recreational activities. During the winter months ski at Sugarbush Resort or Mad River Glen, ice skate at the outdoor rink in Waitsfield Village, cross country ski and snowshoe around the Inn trails or Ole's and Blueberry Lake cross country centers, all within ten minutes of the Inn. Mountain bike starting from the Inn property on marked trails newly cut and maintained on the mountain behind the Inn.
