ABOUT THE INN

Walk across the road to a pristine swimming hole in the Mad River, or jump in our swimming pond to cool off on a warm summer afternoon. Bring your mountain bike or road bike or motorbike – whichever you choose, it’s going to be a glorious ride. Peep at our autumn leaves as the valley explodes with color. Delight your taste buds at one of the several fantastic restaurants within a mile of the inn.

Take yourself onto our trails for a walk, ski, or snowshoe (we've got spares if you don't have your own snowshoes), and come back to a hot supper by the fire. Play on our lawns, read your favorite book in our gazebo by the pond, nap in a hammock, rest up in your spacious room, or join your fellow guests for conversation or board games in the living rooms.

Contact us to plan your reunion or retreat or celebration, and we’ll work together to create the perfect time and space. Whatever you’re seeking, you’ll find it here.

Just on the edge of the lively little town of Waitsfield, Vermont, The Featherbed Inn sits on 20 acres of land, with 800 acres of forest and meadow, and miles and miles of maintained mountain bike and snowshoe trails a few steps from the front door.

This 1806 farmhouse is the second oldest building in Waitsfield, and in the 1950s became one of the first B&Bs to welcome skiers from the newly opened Mad River Glen.

The inn welcomes you with two living rooms, one with a large fieldstone fireplace, a dining room, an 1840s barn, and European featherbeds in every room.

Drive seven minutes in either direction, and you’ll find yourself at some of the best skiing in the East – Sugarbush to the south and Mad River Glen to the north.

And one more thing. Everyone is welcome at The Featherbed Inn. Everyone means everyone, no matter where you were born, who you love, what you look like, what god you worship or don’t. Whoever you are, we welcome you. We know you’ll love it here.
