POLICIES AND GUIDELINES

GUEST POLICIES

RESERVATIONS AND CANCELLATIONS

As a small country inn, our business depends on advance reservations. We strongly recommend the consideration of travel insurance to protect against unexpected emergency situations such as illness, snow storms, flight delays etc.

For individual bookings:

  • Reservations made more than 21 days ahead of your arrival date may be charged a 50% deposit at the time of reservation, not including Vermont Room and Meals Tax; 21 days ahead of your arrival date you may be charged the remaining balance, not including Vermont Room and Meals Tax. Reservations made within 21 days of your arrival date may be charged the full reservation rate, not including Vermont Room and Meals Tax.

  • If you need to cancel more than 21 days ahead of your arrival date we will refund your deposit, minus a $25 administrative fee per room.

  • If you need to cancel within 21 days of your arrival, we will do our best to re-sell your room(s). If we re-sell your room(s) we will fully refund your reservation, minus a $25 administrative fee per room. If we cannot re-sell your room(s), we reserve the right to retain the charges for your full reservation, but can discuss applying your charges to a future visit.

For group bookings:

  • For all group reservations, please contact the Inn directly.

  • The Inn books well in advance for weddings and other group events. A block of rooms for an event can be reserved by making a deposit of $1,000 and signing a contract. Individuals attending the event can reserve independently from the block of rooms. The Inn will hold the block of rooms for up until 90 days before the event, at which point we will work together to determine whether any rooms should be released.

  • The Reserving Party is responsible for full payment on any reserved room(s) remaining unbooked on the arrival date.

  • If your event is cancelled prior to 90 days before the event, the Inn will refund your $1,000 deposit less a $200 administrative fee. Cancellations within 90 days of the event will result in a loss of the deposit.

ROOM RATES

Rates are per room per night up to the maximum published number of occupants.  Subject to availability at the time of reservation, we are willing to discuss additional guests beyond the published number of occupants, for a $50 per night per person fee.

Rates include a 3-course cooked breakfast and afternoon refreshments, and full use of the public spaces, extensive grounds, pond, and trails.

The Inn has free high-speed WiFi, snowshoes and head lamps for guests to borrow, a boot drying area, ski and gear storage, mountain bike storage, and a cold storage room with refrigerator and freezer space for guests use.

Vermont Room and Meals Tax are not included in the published rates.

MINIMUM NIGHTS

A two night minimum applies to weekend and holiday weekday stays, with a three night minimum applying during holiday and fall foliage weekends.

Please call us to discuss possible exceptions to this policy.

SMOKING & VAPING

For the comfort of other guests, smoking and vaping are not permitted inside the Inn.  A $250 cleaning charge will be applied for carpet and fabric cleaning to the account of guests who smoke in their accommodations.

ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES

The Inn is not licensed for the sale of alcoholic beverages, and as such and in accordance to State law, alcoholic beverages cannot be purchased from the Inn.  You are therefore free to bring and consume alcohol on the premises.  Please be aware that there may well be minors staying at the Inn, so it is your responsibility to be considerate and ensure that any alcoholic beverages are carefully monitored at all times.

PETS

We allow dogs only in our cottage rooms (Shelley, Phillipa, and Ellen, as well as the Brittany Cottage) but not in the main Inn. We charge a cleaning fee per dog of $60 per dog plus $10 per night.  Dogs must not be left alone for extended periods and must always be crated when left alone even for short periods of time.  We would be happy to assist in finding nearby kennel services.

Please be aware that we have a cat, but note that she is a Russian Blue and hypoallergenic. She is not permitted in any of the guest rooms or the cottages.  We have had a number of guests who are allergic to cats who have experienced no symptoms while staying at the Inn.

USE OF GROUNDS

We at the Featherbed welcome and invite you to enjoy all that our grounds have to offer. A swimmable (and sometimes skateable) pond, miles of wooded trails, a lush meadow, and a delightful jacuzzi await you! That being said, we remind you that per state of Vermont legislation, you enjoy our grounds at your own risk. "An owner shall not be liable for property damage or personal injury sustained by a person who, without (paying a usage fee), enters or goes upon the owner's land for a recreational use unless the damage or injury is the result of the willful or wanton misconduct of the owner." We promise to avoid all willful or wanton misconduct and hope that you find yourself at home in Vermont's magical outdoors.
