SKIING & SNOWBOARDING

Skier on Sugarbush Rim Run

The Mad River Valley is home to two of the most venerable, prized ski areas in the Eastern United States.

Two very different resorts are less than a ten-minute drive from the Featherbed. Sugarbush, the larger of the two, offers high-speed lifts, state-of-the-art lodges, and most importantly, 111 often-groomed trails of terrain for beginners, intermediates, and experts, spread across Lincoln Peak and Mt. Ellen. Mad River Glen offers the most challenging and diverse terrain in New England with an uphill capacity that guarantees low skier density on the trails even on the busiest days. Mad River Glen prides itself on its rustic charm, natural snow, and a (yes, they mean it) no snowboarders policy.

If you are into tree skiing, Sugarbush has 28 marked areas, providing beginner to advanced tree skiing, and the 2,000-acre Slide Brook Basin tucked in between Lincoln Peak and Mt. Ellen is an adventurer’s paradise.

It goes without saying that “Ski It If You Can” Mad River Glen should be on your off-piste bucket list whether you ride the lift or skin up when the lifts aren’t running.
