Anticipation with Certainty

Let's just say it. We're living in interesting times (which is not, apparently, an ancient Chinese curse). Every day brings a new wave of anxiety, perhaps anger, certainly uncertainty. We know you're feeling it, and we are, too. We also feel profound gratitude to be living in a place of such serenity, and we feel eager, even obligated, to spread that serenity around as much as possible.
During a time of such uncertainty, one thing that is certain is that spending time surrounded by natural beauty, having outdoor adventures, and being well fed and pampered is good for the disquieted soul. If you've been to the Featherbed Inn before, close your eyes for a moment and conjure up the feeling of calm you felt while you were here and the feeling of rejuvenation you experienced by the time you went home. If you've never been here, try conjuring up the feeling of, say, a hug from someone you love, or the feeling of the first warm sunshine of the spring, or the feeling of a good belly laugh with your besties. We're pretty sure you need that feeling right now.
In her book, The Bluest Eye, Toni Morrison defines happiness as "anticipation with certainty." Imagine the happiness you could be feeling if you were anticipating the certainty of tranquility, fun, and relaxation. Whether your perfect summer getaway means getting outdoors and into the woods or a river or up a mountain, or sitting on a lawn chair with a local craft beer in your hand and occasionally jumping into a pond, or dancing outdoors to live music, or pampering yourself in a Nordic spa, or eating memorably delicious food, we're here to ensure that you get what you need to unplug and unwind.
There is so much happening this summer in our beautiful valley that it would be crazy to try to spell it all out for you. Instead, the links below will tell you about happenings throughout the Mad River Valley and Vermont. One thing we do want to spell out, however, is that July 4th falls conveniently on a Friday, making the perfect long summer weekend. And the Mad River Valley throws a 4th of July parade and party like nowhere else. And we're planning a special barbecue for our guests. Thought you'd like to know.
Here are those links we told you about:
And if you are inspired to come and stay with us, here's a link for you:
And here is where we sign off and wish you a sense of peace and wellbeing.
