Has this ever happened to you? It's so noisy and chaotic that you think you will lose your mind, and you are on the verge of shouting, "Will everyone please shut up!" Then you realize the noise and chaos is actually inside your own head.
And who could blame you? There's all that nonsense at work. You're worried about your family. There's that strange looking mole on your arm that you've been ignoring but you know should be checked out. Your grocery bills have skyrocketed. There's a tick lurking behind every leaf. And there's the state of the world, the country, the planet. You'd be a little crazy not to be feeling a little crazy.
Goodbye World, Hello Vermont
When you're at that point that you're wishing the world would stop spinning so you can get off, it's probably time to go to Vermont.
We're not saying that a trip to the Mad River Valley will solve your problems at the office, or make your parents young again, or bring down gas prices, or stop the war. But a starlit swim in a pond will help quiet the noise in your head. As will a circuit in a Nordic spa. And a fine breakfast served in a garden. And a comfortable bed. And a walk in the woods. And a nap in a hammock.
One-Night Stay, A-OK
Even just 24 hours of peace and natural beauty might be the balm your body and spirit need. If one night away is all you can muster, note that we've lifted our two-night minimum for the remainder of the summer. A quick reset, and off you go, ready to face the madness.
Digital Detox
And if you are so inclined, we can offer you a "digital detox." Tell one person that you're staying at the Featherbed, and give them our phone number just for dire emergencies. Then hand us your phone. If you need driving directions, we'll write them down on a piece of paper, with a pen. If you need suggestions for what to do while you're here, ask us and we'll tell you our favorite places and activities. If you need a dinner reservation, we'll make it for you. We can assure you that your phone needs you more than you need it, and your phone will have to get over it. We promise we'll let you know if the world has ended.
We've got you. You'll be okay.
Karen and Mick
