Hello Featherbed Friends,
Today is my 60th birthday. Sixty! How did that happen? Regardless, it has happened. And it gives me the opportunity to reflect on the stunning turn my life took early in my 50s, when Mick and I decided to pack it in and buy a bed & breakfast in Vermont. I wonder what my 60s will have in store! It's been a momentous summer for us, on the personal front. We became grandparents! Yesterday was our grandson's 1-month birthday. We love you, Duncan!!!
It all feels very momentous, and I thought I deserved to treat myself to something especially special. Which is the real reason I'm writing.
A glider ride over the Mad River Valley
This was my gift to myself (I haven't yet opened the gift Mick got for me, but I have a feeling I know what it is. Fingers crossed!). I treated myself to a glider ride (!) with Sugarbush Soaring. This, friends, was a transcendent experience. Seeing our precious valley from the sky was extraordinary. What a place this is! Mountains, forests, rivers, and so many ponds. And mountains. And mountains.
Whatever the occasion, please think about giving yourself this gift. Or give it to someone you love. The nice people at Sugarbush Soaring have offered a 10 percent discount to Featherbed guests, but honestly I would have paid twice as much for this unforgettable experience.
It's just one more reason to visit the Mad River Valley. Come stay with us, luxuriate in our Nordic spa, and let us be your personal guides to this magical place.
Hugs and kisses,
Karen
