Welcome to Ski Season

Hello Featherbed Friends,

Yesterday, we celebrated our second anniversary as innkeepers. Running the Featherbed Inn has brought us more joy than we could ever have imagined. Thank you for being a part of all that makes this place so special.

We are heading into our third ski season, and our second Covid winter. The world continues to be a fragile and unpredictable place, but we are moving forward with a sense of hope and excitement. To do so, we need to ensure that our guests and our community are safe. We now require vaccines and masks in all common rooms. If you or someone in your party is unable to be vaccinated, due to age or medical condition, please call us so we can plan for testing prior to arrival.

Okay - with that out of the way, let's talk about things we are excited about. Skiers and riders are already enjoying top-to-bottom runs at Sugarbush, and Sugarbush PARKS has eight features ready for snowboarders. You can keep up with the ever-improving conditions at Sugarbush here. Mad River Glen plans to open the Practice Slope on Saturday, and with new state-of-the-art snow guns and groomers, we can look forward to more consistently wonderful skiing there. Day passes for Mad River Glen are now available for purchase online. Both Sugarbush and Mad River Glen will be operating much like the before-times, with some minor modifications for Covid precautions. See you on the slopes!

Here at the Featherbed, we've got some pretty nice additions that we think you'll love. Our hot tub arrives this week, and we cannot wait to go out for a soak (bring your bathing suits!). Our fireplace has at long last been repaired, and the living room is cozy and inviting. Hot chocolate and cookies await! Our new fancy-shmancy sheets have elevated the featherbed experience, in case our beds weren't comfortable enough already. And we're in the process of installing mini-split heat pumps throughout the inn to improve the comfort of our guests and further reduce our carbon footprint.

We are once again partnering with Umiak Outfitters to offer after-dark guided snowshoe tours. The It's a Chili Evening Snowshoe Tour starts in our meadow (Umiak provides snowshoes and headlamps), goes into our lovely woods, and lands you in teepee warmed by a fire, where you will dine on Mick's ridiculously delicious chili and Karen's cornbread and brownies. It's really sweet. Of course, you can always take yourselves for a hike or snowshoe in our woods. We've got some spare snowshoes available if you don't have your own.

The Mad River Valley's restaurant and brewery scene is thriving, with a fabulous new addition of a wine bar a few hundred yards from the Featherbed. You really must stop by Alpino Vino -- it's our new favorite! All sorts of events and activities and art classes and yoga classes will be taking place throughout the winter; keep up with the goings-on by clicking here.

Some things haven't changed. Every morning will always begin with scones -- our solemn promise to you. Our breakfasts keep getting more creative and more scrumptious, and they will fuel you well for your days of outdoor adventure. And we will always love hanging out with you by the fire or around the breakfast table. You are the best part of the Featherbed Inn experience, and we are eager to see you this winter. Call us at 802-496-7151 or book online.

See you soon!

Karen and Mick
